Baby Bird Season

When you visit our website you’ll notice the headline…baby bird season just around the corner. Spring comes early here in the valley and our volunteers are already geared up for the onslaught of rescue calls. I can usually time the “baby” season from right outside my front door. In the last four years we have has sparrows nesting a a very peculiar place – at the top of a piece of concrete under the eaves. There is an indentation in the brickwork which makes an apparently very comfortable nesting area. Shortly, mom and dad sparrow will be taking turns to feed the nestlings by jumping into the center of the brick and disappearing with tidbits. At the moment they are extremely busy, bringing twigs and assorted pieces of fluff into the nest. As baby bird season proceeds, watch this site for articles from our volunteers about the rescues that arrive at their door.
